Sports Experts Fundraiser for Faucher Family
As many of you have heard, Ottawa resident Rene Faucher was paralyzed from the chest down in a fluke accident during a pick-up hockey game two weeks ago.
From now to February 7th, all Ottawa locations of Sports Experts will donate all proceeds from skate sharpening to the Faucher family.
Nepean/CORA Goalie Clinics
Over the next few weeks, Nepean and CORA are hosting goalie clinics and West Ottawa goalies are welcome to attend. There will be a $10 fee which WORA will reimburse. The next clinic is on Tuesday, January 26th at the Nepean Sportsplex 1. Please see the Nepean website for specific times - www.nepeanringette.ca
Ringette at Scotiabank Place!
Our West Ottawa Junior A team will be playing the St. Albert, Alberta Junior A team in an exhibition game on Wednesday, February 3rd at Scotiabank Place. Everyone is invited to come out and share the excitement! Players are encouraged to wear their jerseys and we ask that you bring a donation to the food bank in lieu of an entrance fee. The teams take to the ice at 6:45 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m.

H1N1 Precautions
In order to help prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus we ask that all players, parents and coaches take the following precautions:
Players should not share water bottles during practices or games. Water bottles should be clearly labelled with the player's name and/or number. Water bottles should be sanitized frequently.
Players should not remove their gloves to shake hands after a game - they should 'bump' gloves instead.
Bench staff should have hand sanitizer and wipes available in the dressing room.
And most importantly, if you are sick, please stay home until you are well.
7th Annual West Ottawa RingetteTournament
Thank you to all the teams who have applied to the 2009/10 West Ottawa Tournament taking place February 19th to 21st, 2010. The game schedule has been sent to all participating teams and will be posted here shortly.

Canada Post has issued a set of stamps celebrating Canada's sporting inventions and ringette is one of the featured sports, along with basketball, five-pin bowling and lacrosse.
