JAA collecting donations for Snowsuit Fund

snowsuitsOn Saturday, November 14, 2015, the WORA Junior AA team volunteered at The Snowsuit Fund, helping to hand out snowsuits to underprivileged kids.  The West Ottawa Junior AA team is continuing to support this worthy cause. West Ottawa families can drop of their gently used items on the front porch at 104 Fortune Street, Richmond. Thanks for your support!

The Snowsuit Fund was started over 30 years ago by a local Ottawa family.  Their goal was to provide snowsuits to children 15 years of age and under in the Ottawa/Gatineau area so that no child would be without warm outdoor clothing during the winter.  The Snowsuit Fund accepts donations of gently used snowsuits, winter boots, hats, mittens and outerwear, in addition to outgrown clothing and footwear for the whole family.

The Snowsuit Fund is open from September to February each year and distributes snowsuits from 9-4, Tuesday-Saturday.  Volunteering starts in September, with October being the busiest month for snowsuit distribution.  On a busy day, the volunteers at The Snowsuit Fund can hand out over 500 snowsuits!  High School students can get volunteer hours by helping out at The Snowsuit Fund with unpacking, hanging, and distribution of the snowsuits in the warehouse.  For more information, or to find out how you can help, please contact The Snowsuit Fund at 613-746-8719.
