Every day, 75 Canadians will hear the words “you have breast cancer.” While these Canadians are living longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis, there is still so much work to be done.
Many families in our ringette community, including within West Ottawa, have been directly impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis.
This year, some of our members have entered a team in the CIBC Run for the Cure. They are running/walking in memory of Stephanie Nugent who passed away in November 2020 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. As a long time coach, assistant coach, and volunteer with West Ottawa, Steph had a positive and far reaching impact on many young women in the West Ottawa community.
This year the Run for the Cure will be held virtually on Sunday October 3rd.
Anyone who would like to honour Steph can visit the link below and join the team “Sweat for Steph”, or make a donation to support those participating.
Although the run is virtual, depending on public health restrictions, it may be possible to gather together to mark the event in a group (or groups).
