Annual General Meeting – May 26, 2016

The West Ottawa Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 26th, 2016 @ 7pm at Brown’s Independent Grocer (Upstairs).

All members are invited to attend and we will once again be raffling off a free registration at the end of the meeting.

Registration Now Open for 2016/17 Season

We are pleased to announce that registration opens May 3rd for the 2016/17 ringette season.    Early bird rates will be in effect until June 30th.

To register for next season please go to our on-line registration site.  Existing members can log in using your PIN numbers (if you have forgotten your PINs you can have them emailed to you from the site – look for ‘Have Your Forgotten Your PIN’).  New members will need to sign up for an account (a step by step guide is provided on the site).

Please Note:  You will be required to either opt in or opt out of our grocery card fundraising program at time of registration. For those not familiar with the program please visit our web site here for more information.

“Come Try Ringette” Event: May 7th @ 3 or 4 pm at GRC – A

The West Ottawa Ringette Association is hosting a “Come Try Ringette” Event!

What: This is a FREE event for children ages 4 and up. All your child needs to bring is a helmet, skates, winter gloves or protective gloves and enthusiasm. Ringette sticks and rings will be available to borrow for the session.

There will be on ice helpers to assist new skaters. West Ottawa Executive members will also be available to answer any questions you may have and to provide more information about this great game.

Bring a Friend! If you are already a WORA ringette player, bring a friend who is interested in trying ringette and you can both go on the ice!

When: Saturday, May 7, 2016

On ice sessions:

1)    3:00 – 4:00 for ages 4-8 years

2)    4:00 – 5:00 pm for ages 9 and older

Come see what fun the ice can bring! Please arrive 20-30 minutes prior to the ice time to register and put skates on!

Looking for recreational goalies ages 10 +!  Come talk to us if you are interested in being a goalie next season!

Tryouts for U14 A/AA & U16 A/AA for 2016-2017 season

UPDATED (May 1st)

Thank you to all the players who tried out for the Competitive teams this year!
U14AA & U14A and the U16AA & U16A tryouts are now completed.
Thank you to everyone who helped out during the past few weeks during this busy time!
Belle and Petite tryouts will take place in the fall.
Watch for more information mid-late August.
Tryout Fee   A tryout fee of $50 must be paid prior to attending the first tryout session. The fee must be paid by logging in to our registration system and purchasing the 2016 Spring Tween and Junior Competitive Tryout Fee on-line via the registration system.

All Players wanting to try out for the West Ottawa Ringette U14 and U16 AA and A teams must register by April 11th at the Eastern Region Ringette association website link below :

For all Out-Of-Association Players, the $50 tryout fee must be paid at the first tryout session via cash only.

Ringette Leadership Camp (for players born 1999-2005)

Deadline to apply has been extended to Wednesday, April 20th, 2016.

Leadership Camp Information

This Will Be An Off-Ice Camp For Ringette Players Who Share An Interest In Furthering Their Learning Strategies And Activities To Be Taken Back To Their Teams That Will Improve Communication, Cooperation And Team Unity And Allow The Participants To Be Better Team Leaders In The Future.

Participants Will Be Divided Into “Home Groups” Of 6 Or 7. Two Skill-Builders Will Be Designated To Each Group.
• These Home Groups Would Work Through Leadership Building Exercises Together.
• Cabin Assignments Would Be Different From Home Groups In Order To Encourage The Participants To Be In Contact With As Many Of Their Fellow Athletes As Possible Over The Weekend.
All Home Groups Will Come Together For Whole-Camp Sessions Where All Of The Athletes Will Build Their Capacity Together. These Sessions Will Be Facilitated By The Apprentices. This Camp Gives Participants The Opportunity To Discuss Some Of The Key Values, Goals, And Benefits Of Ringette, Particularly Skills That Can Be Taken Away From The Game And Applied Off Of The Ice.
