West Ottawa Ringette Welcomes New FUN1 Players!

Is your little one ready to lace up their skates and discover the joy of playing on the ice? West Ottawa Ringette is excited to open registration for our FUN1 program, designed especially for children ages 4-6 who are new to skating or ringette!

What is FUN1?

FUN1 is the perfect introduction to the game. Young players will learn:

• Basic skating skills

• Early ringette techniques

• Teamwork and game structure in a fun, supportive environment

The ice is divided into three stations so players can rotate through activities, keeping them engaged and smiling every step of the way.

When and Where

• Location: Cardel Recreation Complex (CRC), Rink A

• Schedule: Saturdays at 8:00am or 9:00am (alternating weekly)

  • 8:00am - skating fundamentals

  • 9:00am - introduction to ringette skills

• Season Start: Early October

Throughout the year, players may also enjoy friendly exhibition games with other Ottawa-area FUN1 teams. These fun-filled games are always a season highlight!

Equipment Support

Thanks to funding from the Ontario Sport & Recreation Communities Fund, West Ottawa Ringette has 26 equipment kits available for loan to new FUN1 players. These kits include everything needed to get started—except for helmet, skates, jill, and neck guard.

This is a fantastic way to try the sport without investing in full gear right away. Equipment loans will go quickly, so don’t wait!

Ringette is often called the “fastest game on ice”, but for our youngest players it’s all about fun, friendship, and building confidence. With supportive coaches and a welcoming community, FUN1 is the first step into a lifetime love of sport.
